Operating instructions bulletfishing Smart Kontiki:
* Connect batteries 2 x green lithium ion first, black SLA last:
LED’s will flash PINK once.
* Fit hatch.
* Use magnet over Advance/Reset on the control panel to set the desired distance for the kontiki to travel, initially the LED’s will be BLUE:
Every LED represents 100m of distance the kontiki will travel. Using the magnet over the Advance/Reset the LED will advance every 1 second, when you get to the 10th LED (representing 1000m) the LED’s will roll over back to number 1 LED which will now be PINK and now represents 1100m , if you keep advancing and it reaches the 10th LED again (PINK = 2000m) once again using the magnet you can scroll to the first LED again, this time it will be ORANGE, this now represents 2100m, the next LED is 2200m, 2300m, 2400m and finally 2500m the maximum distance is 2500m. If you carry on advancing the LED’s past the 2500m LED, it will scroll back to the start. Note: 2500m is maximum distance.
Colour:
LED number Distance
BLUE 1 – 10 = 100m—1000m
PINK 1 – 10 = 1100m—2000m
ORANGE 1 – 10 = 2100—2500m
(See examples of distance settings on last page)
Once the desired distance setting is set you are now ready to launch.
* Place magnet over ARM on the control panel.
The LED,s will flash WHITE once, this indicates the kontiki is ready to launch.
Note: The kontiki will only arm and the LED’s flash WHITE if sufficient satellites are in view.
* Walk towards the ocean in the desired direction of travel.
You may notice the LED’s will flash GREEN once after a few metres indicating a home point has been set, this is where the distance is measured from.
* Continue walking the desired direction of travel.
Once you have walked a few more metres the LED’s will flash WHITE and then turn off, the kontiki motor will start, the bearing is now locked.
* The kontiki may now be placed in the water.
Notes:
For maximum steering accuracy ARM only when ready to launch and walk the kontiki towards the water in the desired direction of travel without stopping until the motor starts.
* You can reset the kontiki electronics any time by placing the magnet over the Advance/Reset.
* If for any reason you need to stop the kontiki after launching it, lets say a boat has parked in front of you, just engage the winch to stop the line going out and after a couple of minutes of the kontiki not moving the motor will stop.
*If the kontiki speed is too slow IE under 2kmph for 2 x minutes or more the motor will stop, so if the batteries are running flat the kontiki will slow down below this speed, this will eliminate over discharge of the batteries.
